Suspicious Car Fires - Russell Lea

An investigation is underway after four vehicles were set alight in Sydney's south west this morning.

About 2:30am today, Thursday 12 June 2025, emergency services were called to Burnell Street, Russell Lea following a report of a fire.

On arrival, officers attached to Burwood Police Area Command found four vehicles alight.

Fire and Rescue NSW attended and extinguished the fire; however, two cars were destroyed and two sustained significant damage.

The occupants from two homes were evacuated as a precaution and there were no reports of injuries.

Police established a crime scene and have commenced investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The fire is being treated as suspicious.
